Bronchial Asthama

It is an inflammatory airway disease.    It is the chronic inflammatory disease, which is associated with recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing especially at night or in morning.

EPIDEMIOLOGY

It is more common in children and old aged people than in adults,

In children male: female ratio is 2:1 but in adults it is equally prevalent in both sexes,

It is influenced by the interaction between genetic, host and environmental factors.

PRECIPITATING FACTORS 

ALLERGIC

Insects

Dust mite particles

some food and drug additives

preservatives and colouring agents

NON ALLERGIC

Tobbaco ,

smoking,

room deodourizers,

fresh paint,

cooking odours

woork place chemicals, perfumes,

cosmetics,

outdoor air pollution,

exercise  in cold and dry air,

NSAIDS,

respiratory viral infection

INVESTIGATION 

Pulse oximetory is helpfull to detect hypoxaemia in severe asthma. in which oxygen saturation is below 90%

in allergic asthma

serum Ige level increased,

eosinophill count also increased.

chest x-ray is normal but in such complications as pneumothorax, pneumonia.

HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT

in allopathy there are so many medicines, inhalers, steroids, corticosteroids, broncho dilators are available and given patient to longer time, and they get temporary relief from dyspnea and again and again pts suffers from asthmatic attacks but it can not cure them. but they suffers from some side effects of broncho dilators and steroids.

ARSENIC ALB

arsenic gives great results in bronchial asthma.

pt is very much restless and anguish about himself,

pt is unable to lie down for fear of suffocation,

he must have to sit or bend forward and abduct arm for relief,

aggravation from 12 to 2 am or pm,

mucus is scanty and offensive and dark,

wheezing sound due to constriction of trachea.

HEPAR SULPH

It is very usefull remedy for asthma which is after suppression of skin eruptions.

pt has to take deep breath with threatend and suffocation,

sputum is very offensive and yellowish

pt has sit up to give himself some relief,

better in damp wet weather and by covering of body

IPECAC

it is very usefull medicine in children with asthma,

violent and spasmodic coughing, with severe pain in throat,

threatend suffocation from constriction,

coughing with nausea and vomiting,

rapid wheezing respiration with blueness of skin and pale face.

NATRUM SULPH

Asthma may be sycotic in origin, or from exposure to damp cold weather,

it is very usefull in children, with every change of weather,

patient has to take deep breath during dyspnea for relief,

sharp stitching pain in left side of chest.

BLATA ORIENTALIS

It is an accute medicine,

it is indicated after arsenic, when arsenic is not sufficient. 

threatend suffocation due to rattling of mucus,

severe breathlessness with profuse perspiration,

best indicated in asthmatic attacks during rainy season.

KALI  BICH

it is very well indicated medicine for bronchial asthma,

cough is very violent and gaging in nature,

coghing with expectoration during dyspnea,

aggravation by standing up and ameliorated by lying down.

CANABIS SATIVA

It is especially suted in asthma and bronchitis,

rattling cough with wheezing and dyspnea,

pt can breath better only by standing up and he must have windows open,

cough with green viscid expactortion,

sputum with bloody spit

LOBELIA INFLATA

Excelent remedy in asthma in which dyspnea due to constriction of middle of chest with sensation of weight in chest,

relieved by rapid walking,

feeling of peculiar pricking sensation all over body with attacks of asthma 

pt feels as if heart would stop.

MEDORRHINUM

Asthma after maltreated or suppressed gonorrhea,

great dyspnea suffocation and chocking caused by spasm and weekness of epiglottis,

larynx is completely stopped so that no air can enter,

aggravation when thinking of his complaints,

amelioration by lying on face, and lying on abdomen and ar seashore.
